Best Travel Mobile Data & Calling Packages for New Zealand

While getting off the grid during your New Zealand holiday might sound like a romantic idea and there's no doubt that it'd be a great first topic for the travel blog you're about to start, but let's be honest, connecting with friends and family back home as well as the ability to check bookings and maps during your NZ adventure is fairly high priority.

That's why we thought you'd find a blog post about the best local NZ sim card deals super handy.

Now if you're travelling in a group then it's probably not necessary for everyone to get a local sim card but we'd recommend at least one of you to take one for the team.

Even if it's just as a last resort when there is no WIFI available, or as a better alternative to paying international data and calling rates on your own sim card.

Now, these packages last for one month, so if you're coming for longer it is better to consider a prepaid card option, please get in touch for more details about these.

In New Zealand, the best-known communications companies are Vodafone, Spark and 2degrees. Today, we're only going to look at Vodafone and Spark because they offer the best one month options for travellers.

We hope our comparison of the two titans of NZ telecommunications will make your decision a little easier on arrival.

Now for your options.

As you can see there isn't a lot separating these two, but we think that Vodafone offer better value with the extra International Minutes and Texts. Not to mention the $99 option which would be great for all those Instagram warriors out there!

Or.....

This is all great... but where can I find them?

One of the big advantages of going with either Vodafone or Spark is the convenient location of their stores. You'll find them both waiting for you as you walk out of the International Arrivals area at Auckland International Airport, Christchurch International Airport and Queenstown International Airport.

Pretty easy, right.

Will they be open when I arrive?

Both the Spark and Vodafone stores are open during the same hours that International flights are arriving in New Zealand, so no need to worry about any awkward arrival hours.
